Detailed Summary

The Levelland UFO incident took place on the night of November 2-3, 1957, in the small town of Levelland, Texas. It is considered one of the most compelling UFO cases due to the large number of witnesses involved within a short period. The incident began when two immigrant farm workers, Pedro Saucedo and Joe Salaz, were driving west of Levelland and saw a blue flash of light near the road. Their truck's engine stalled as a rocket-shaped object approached, passing over their vehicle with a rush of wind and a thunderous noise before disappearing. Over the next hour, several other motorists reported similar experiences. One driver, Jim Wheeler, encountered a brilliantly lit, egg-shaped object blocking the road, which caused his car's engine to die until the object moved away. Another witness, Newell Wright, saw a 100-foot-long egg-shaped object sitting in the road, and his car's engine also stopped until the object departed. Additionally, a married couple driving nearby saw a bright flash of light moving across the sky, causing their car's headlights and radio to die for a few seconds. The local police received numerous calls about these strange occurrences and dispatched officers to investigate. Officer A.J. Fowler and other officers attempted to locate the object but were unsuccessful. Despite the numerous reports and efforts to find the UFO, it remained elusive.
