The Caracas UFO incident occurred in the early hours of November 28, 1954, in Caracas, Venezuela, and remains one of the most intriguing UFO sightings of the 1950s. Around 2:00 a.m., meat merchants José Ponce and Gustavo González were driving their panel truck along Calle Bella Vista when they encountered a large, glowing object in the sky. The object, described as a silvery, football-shaped entity, emitted a red vapor and produced a buzzing sound as it hovered above the road. The witnesses were astonished by its appearance and behavior.
The object moved swiftly, performing maneuvers that defied conventional explanations, such as rapid acceleration and sudden stops. Other independent witnesses corroborated the sighting, including a young boy who saw the object briefly disappear behind a tree before it sped away. The event attracted significant media attention in Venezuela, with newspapers extensively covering the strange occurrence and sparking public interest and speculation.
Despite thorough investigations, no definitive explanation was ever provided for the Caracas UFO incident.
