On February 5, 1883, an intriguing incident took place near Lake Glasfjorden in Sweden. An observer, while crossing the frozen lake, reported seeing an extraordinary sight in the sky. Initially, the object appeared to be a typical meteor, bright and moving at high speed from the southeast to the northwest, high above the horizon.
What made this sighting particularly unusual was the object's behavior. After approximately 18 seconds, the object, which had been moving in a straight line, suddenly altered its course. Instead of continuing its path to the northwest, it made a sharp turn and headed to the southeast. Such erratic movement was not characteristic of a standard meteor, sparking immediate curiosity and speculation.
The observer described the object as a bright, almost luminous entity, but there were no accompanying sounds or other environmental effects noted during the event. The sudden change in direction and the lack of conventional meteor characteristics led to various theories about the object's nature, but no concrete explanations were ever provided.
